Brogdon Builders will soon celebrate ten years in business, but it started as a residential contractor, focused primarily on home remodels and new construction.

After owner, Clayton Brogdon, made the decision to exclusively focus on commercial construction in 2023, hiring Anita Prewitt seemed like a natural next step.

“From the very first time I met Anita, I knew she would be a great fit. She is the common denominator at every industry event, the common link among strangers,” said Brogdon.

That initial first meeting happened in 2023, when Brogdon and Prewitt joined the same networking group. “It was clear that our values and visions aligned,” Brogdon said, “The tricky part would be timing.”

Prewitt has a long-standing history of making connections in Northeast Florida. With over 12 years of experience in Business Development, she has contributed to the growth of several area businesses and has solidified her reputation as a hard-working, connector of people. With her common phrase, “I know who you should talk to,” she’s found tremendous success by facilitating relationships and utilizing those skills to benefit the businesses and corporations she’s worked for.

For Prewitt though, the longer she’s been in the industry, the more she’s found her priorities have shifted.

“I found the need for a close-knit team was far more important than larger, less personal opportunities,” said Prewitt. The tight-knit, family-owned aspect of Brogdon Builders, coupled with its potential for exponential growth was just the right challenge for Prewitt.

In early 2024, Brogdon and Prewitt found themselves again at the same networking lunch. “The stars aligned, and I knew it was time to bring her on board. She was the missing piece for our team,” emphasized Brogdon.

Now united by a shared vision, Prewitt and the rest of the Brogdon team aim to expand their commercial construction portfolio in NE Florida, and they intend to do it with a focus on relationships and personal connections.

“I don’t look at this position as a job, but more of a passion and a mission to help Brogdon Builders continue to be as successful as possible.”
