Six teams competed for the coveted 2024 Young Lawyers Section Golden Kickball Trophy and the equally important year of bragging rights.

The playoffs were conducted in a three-game single-elimination format.

Although the KickBallerz entered as the No. 1 seed, the championship game pitted them against their only loss on the season, the Public Defenders.

At the outset, it was a defensive battle with both teams not yielding an inch. With the game tied 1-1, the KickBallerz broke through in the fourth inning, amassing five runs.

Although the Public Defenders fought back valiantly, the KickBallerz defense remained resolute.

In the end the KickBallerz defeated the Public Defenders 5-2 and won the Golden Kickball.

It was a hard-fought and competitive season but most important, everyone had fun.

With each kickball season, and maybe a few pulled muscles, the Young Lawyers Section continues to prove lawyers can be athletic.

Bryce McColskey is an attorney at Marks Gray where he focuses his practice on medical malpractice defense.
