Plans continue to be filed and reviewed for a 234,000-square-foot distribution warehouse and operations-service building for Ring Power Corp. in North Jacksonville.
The city has been reviewing civil engineering plans for the project.
Now, the St. Johns River Water Management District is reviewing a permit application for the project, called a manufacturing addition.
Jacksonville-based Almond Engineering is the civil engineer.
Also, the city issued a Mobility Fee Calculation Certificate on Dec. 5 for the project. It determined a fee of $260,438 to mitigate the traffic impact.
The project is shown on about 34.8 acres that the St. Augustine-based company owns at 330 Pecan Park Road behind the Love’s Travel Stops & Country Stores.
Sue Miller, Ring Power senior vice president of marketing and public relations director, said Dec. 8 by email there is no active project planned at this time.
“It is exploratory only as we are currently evaluating several of our properties for future expansion opportunities,” Miller said.
Ring Power is one of the largest Caterpillar dealers in the Southeast U.S.
It operates Ring Power Heavy Equipment, The Cat Rental Store and Ring Power Truck Centers at the Pecan Park Road location.
It carries heavy and construction equipment; generators for sale and rent; rental construction machines; hydraulics parts and service; and diesel marine engine repowers and repairs.
The development was submitted Nov. 30 for preliminary civil engineering site plan approval and to the water management district Jan. 12. Ring Power seeks an environmental resource permit.
JEA issued a service availability letter for the project to Almond Engineering on April 21. It specifies the location at southeast Interstate 95 and Pecan Park Road.
The Caterpillar dealer has been operating a dealership at 330 Pecan Park Road.
On June 8, 2015, Ring Power Corp. bought 21.64 acres next to the heavy equipment operation for future expansion.
A master site plan dated Nov. 28, 2023, shows a truck court with the proposed new building.
The site data summary says it is an 216,000-square-foot manufacturing building with a 18,000-square-foot office and 200 parking spaces.
Miller said in 2015 about 12 acres of the purchased site was buildable.
Miller said the property would allow Ring Power to expand if needed. She didn’t expect a decision about that for two or three years.
Ring Power paid $900,000 for the land, which it purchased from Jax Land Holding Co. LLC of Farmington Hills, Michigan.
Ringpower.com says the Ring Power corporate headquarters in St. Augustine oversees the operations of 18 branch locations throughout Florida, including large regional facilities in Tampa and Orlando.
It says a Pompano Beach branch supports air compressor, crane and utility customers in South Florida.
Ring Power also has facilities in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Georgia and Texas to serve other specialized industries and customers.
