Southside Kia quadrupling in size in move from Regency area to East Arlington

The city issued two permits Feb. 16 for the dealership’s new location in Sleiman Enterprises’ Atlantic North at Kernan and Atlantic boulevards.

East Arlington’s dealership corridor is gaining Southside Kia as it quadruples in size in a move from the Regency area.

After approving site clearing in December, the city issued two permits Feb. 16 for Morgan Construction Management Services LLC of  Tampa to build a dealership and car wash-detailing building for Southside Kia at a combined project cost of $12.5 million

The project comprises a two-story, 61,030-square-foot sales and service facility dealership and the 3,650-square-foot car wash and detailing building on 6.56 acres at 11750 Abess Blvd.

The site is in the Atlantic North development at northwest Kernan and Atlantic boulevards.

The facility is along on Atlantic Boulevard and also fronts Abess Boulevard to the north.

Abess Boulevard runs west from Kernan Boulevard and loops south to connect to Atlantic Boulevard.

Holiday-based Spring Engineering Inc. submitted civil engineering plans to the city Aug. 10.

Jacksonville-based Sleiman Enterprises is the property owner. It intends to lease the land to Jacksonville SS Automotive Management LLC, led by Morgan Automotive Group Chairman Larry C. Morgan.

The new Southside Kia site, west of the Cinemark Jacksonville Atlantic North, is about 3.5 miles east among the dealership corridor from Regency Square Mall at Monument Road to Kernan Boulevard. 

Morgan Automotive Group of Tampa owns Southside Kia that now operates at 9401 Atlantic Blvd., across from Regency Park Shopping Center and near Regency Square Mall.

Through Morgan Automotive, SS Automotive owns the current 3.43-acre Southside Kia site at 9401 Atlantic Blvd.

Property records show that property comprises an 8,690-square-foot sales showroom and 6,612-square-foot service garage built in 1982. A dealership car wash was added in 2021.

SS Automotive bought that property in 2017 from JBM Leasing LLC of South Carolina. The site was Coggin Honda as of the mid-1980s and then Coggin Kia and Southside Kia.

Coggin Honda Jacksonville moved to 11003 Atlantic Blvd. That dealership was built in 2001.
