Saleya Cafe & Bar Nicois, a new restaurant by chef Matthew Medure, is in city review for tenant build-out on San Marco Square.
R Todd Construction LLC of Jacksonville Beach is shown as the contractor for the estimated $400,000 project at 2006 San Marco Blvd. to convert the former Missy Riley Art & Pieces gallery, which has moved to a new location at 1992 San Marco Blvd. in the San Marco Theatre building.
Saleya Cafe is 2,646 square feet. JAA Architecture is the architect. AEC Integrated LLC is the agent. Both are based in Jacksonville.
The city approved a permit Dec. 9 for an ADA ramp at a project cost of $17,000.
Medure previously applied for an administrative zoning deviation to reduce the minimum number of off-street parking spaces from 32 to zero.
The restaurant is one of three storefronts owned by Marcore LLC, led by Frank Sanchez, Jonathan Davis and Patrick Davis. They paid $4 million for the property in January 2020.
The space is between Balis Place and Sorrento Road in the former gallery between Town Hall and Maple Street Biscuit Company.
Plans state Saleya can have up to 131 occupants. There will be booth, banquet and bar seating.
It would be Medure’s third restaurant in San Marco.
In San Marco, his fine-dining restaurant, Matthew’s, is his flagship property that opened in 1997. The other San Marco restaurant is Rue Saint-Marc.
Medure operates several more restaurants in the area.
He has Restaurant Medure in Ponte Vedra Beach, Midtown Table on Gate Parkway, M Brothers and Zest at Mayo Clinic and M Shack in Nocatee.
