The unopened Hotel Amalga in St. Augustine sold Dec. 19 for $20.5 million.
The hotel at 5 Prawn St. is on 0.63 acres along the San Sebastian River south of West King Street.
The seller is Jobalia Development Group of Daytona Beach through Amalga Hotel of St. Augustine LLC.
The buyer is HOS Management of Pooler, Georgia, through Amalga Lodging LLC.
The company could not be reached for comment.
Amalga Lodging LLC also took out a $12.6 million mortgage Dec. 19 with MidFirst Bank of Chicago. The mortgage document calls it the Hotel Amalga - A Tribute Portfolio Hotel by Marriott. It is not shown on the Marriott website.
The Hotel Amalga doesn’t have a website and Google Street View photos from May show it unfinished. A representative of the Homewood Suites by Hilton St. Augustine San Sebastian next door said the Amalga has yet to open.
According to the HOS Management website, its hotel portfolio includes the Holiday Inn Express & Suites St. Augustine North along with multiple properties in Georgia, Louisiana and Texas.
A Facebook post in August by Creation Hospitality, a company that provides vanities and case goods for hotels, said the Amalga was opening soon.
The St. Augustine Record reported in 2015 the site was approved for a 51-room hotel.
