The city issued a permit Dec. 13 for tenant build-out for The Paddle Lands Pickleball Club, an indoor pickleball center, at Oakleaf Station in Southwest Jacksonville.

Target Contractors Inc. is the contractor for the almost 18,850-square-foot project at 8402 Merchants Way, next to Bailey’s Health & Fitness, at a project cost of $681,397.

ThePaddleLands.com says The Paddle Lands Pickleball Club “is proud to announce the opening of a new indoor, air-conditioned, 7 full-sized court facility.”

The location, near Oakleaf Town Center, “is set to revolutionize the pickleball experience in Jacksonville.”

The facility will offer open play sessions; leagues and social play options; instruction; a lounge with food and beverages; locker room and shower facilities; social games; and more.

In September, the Jacksonville Planning Commission approved a request for an alcohol waiver for The Paddle Lands Pickleball Club, which plans to sell beer and wine.

The waiver reduces the minimum distance from a church to 1,030 feet from 1,500. Elevate Life Church is southeast of the establishment along Merchants Way.
