St. Johns County entrepreneurs Jessica and Nathan Hayes opened a D1 Training franchise in Ponte Vedra Beach on Dec. 2.
“Jessica and Nathan are the ideal candidates to bring the D1 Training experience to Ponte Vedra,” said the brand’s Chief Operating Officer Dan Murphy in a news release.
The gym offers a proprietary program designed by a national training panel and updated every eight weeks. According to its website, all locations have multilayered turf and customized equipment found in Division 1 universities.
The Hayeses join celebrity franchisees including NFL linebacker Von Miller and former players Tim Tebow, Kylie Fitts, Jordan Gay and Michael Oher.
The Ponte Vedra facility is at 10860 U.S.1 N., Suite 202, south of U.S. 1 and County Road 210.
It is open from 5 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday-Friday; 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday; and closed Sunday, according to store general manager Alyx Perram.
D1 has four age-based programs including Rookie (ages 7-11), Developmental (ages 12-14), Prep (ages 15-18) and D1 Adult. Each fitness program is based on five athletic-based tenets: dynamic warm-up, performance, strength program, core and conditioning and cool down.
It offers group, semi-private and one-on-one training. Perram said the gym already has about 175 signups.
According to its website, D1 Training serves tens of thousands of athletes a year at more than 100 open locations and has more than 250 in development. There are 18 in Florida.
D1 Training was founded in 2001 by former NFL fullback Will Bartholomew in Nashville, Tennessee. It began franchising in 2017.
The NFL Players Association has endorsed D1 Training as an approved training facility and is a preferred partner of the National Academy of Sports Medicine.
