A third Florida Blue Sanitas Medical Center is building-out in Jacksonville.
The city issued a permit Dec. 11 for Oliver Sperry Renovation and Construction of Tallahassee to make tenant improvements for a clinic at 8102 Blanding Blvd., Unit 29, in Crossroad Square shopping center north of Interstate 295 in Southwest Jacksonville. Plans call it the Duclay location for the neighborhood in Duval County near Clay County.
The project cost is $2.15 million. Plans show a 5,500-square-foot build-out for six exam rooms and other uses. Gensler is the architect.
The permit follows one issued Oct. 1 for a clinic in the St. Johns Square II shopping center at a cost of $1.95 million. Oliver Sperry also is the contractor for that 5,025-square-foot project, which is at 11160 Beach Blvd., Unit 128, at southwest Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road.
Those plans also are for six exam rooms.
The Florida Blue health insurer announced Aug. 29 it would open two of the centers in Duval County next year.
The medical care centers serve Florida Blue customers, original Medicare and self-paying patients ages 50 and older. The health centers serve as the primary care provider and serve walk-in patients, but do not have emergency room services.
Services provided include primary care, mental well-being support, common labs, social support, connections to community support programs, and the option to choose in-person or 24/7 virtual visits.
Florida Blue and its parent company, GuideWellMutual Holding Company, opened the first Jacksonville Sanitas on Jan. 2 at 9400 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 11, in the Regency Park shopping center in the Arlington area.
Florida Blue opened the first of the facilities with Sanitas and its parent company, Keralty, in 2015 in South Florida.
