A third Florida Blue Sanitas Medical Center is building-out in Jacksonville.

The city issued a permit Dec. 11 for Oliver Sperry Renovation and Construction of Tallahassee to make tenant improvements for a clinic at 8102 Blanding Blvd., Unit 29, in Crossroad Square shopping center north of Interstate 295 in Southwest Jacksonville. Plans call it the Duclay location for the neighborhood in Duval County near Clay County.

The project cost is $2.15 million. Plans show a 5,500-square-foot build-out for six exam rooms and other uses. Gensler is the architect.

The permit follows one issued Oct. 1 for a clinic in the St. Johns Square II shopping center at a cost of $1.95 million. Oliver Sperry also is the contractor for that 5,025-square-foot project, which is at 11160 Beach Blvd., Unit 128, at southwest Beach Boulevard and St. Johns Bluff Road.

Those plans also are for six exam rooms.

Sanitas Medical Center operates in Florida, New Jersey, Tennessee and Texas. This location is in Doral.

The Florida Blue health insurer announced Aug. 29 it would open two of the centers in Duval County next year.

Florida Blue announced in August that construction was underway on those two centers in response to "the area’s growing need for accessible, affordable health care."

The first Sanitas Medical Center in Jacksonville opened in January 2024 on Atlantic Boulevard in the Regency area and is supporting and accepting patients 50 and older.

The two new centers will serve patients of all ages and are set to open in January.

Florida Blue members with an individual plan or coverage through their employer will be able to see care teams at the new locations starting Jan. 1, 2025.

Florida Blue said the Sanitas Medical Centers offer primary care, mental well-being support, common labs, social support, connections to community support programs, and the option to choose in-person or 24/7 virtual visits.

In addition to the two locations in Jacksonville, eight more will open in 2025 across the state, and several will feature new care models.

Florida Blue said it brought the first of the medical centers to Florida in 2015 through a joint venture with the Sanitas parent company, Keralty, a global health care organization.
