Señora Xerez, a sherry, wine, cocktail and tapas bar, announced Dec. 6 it is open in the Inn on Charlotte in the St. Augustine historic district.
It is at 52 Charlotte St., just south of the intersection of Charlotte and Hypolita streets.
Señora Xerez features Spanish sherries, vermouths, sangrias and wines. It also serves a tapas menu.
Owner Ericka Patel, known to friends and customers as Miss Erika, and her oldest son, Ricky, opened around Thanksgiving. The restaurant is inspired by their shared Spanish heritage as well as their appreciation of Spanish wine and sherry, according to the news release.
“Señora Xerez is a living tribute to an era of resilience and progress in hospitality,” Erika Patel said in the release.
“Where women opened spaces for their community to gather, to share in the history, culture and identity of Spanish heritage.”
Sherry is a fortified wine made from white grapes and originated in Jerez de Frontera in Andalusia, Spain. Sherry has a wide flavor profile from dry to sweet. It can be consumed on its own or in cocktails, and is often used in cooking.
Miami-based chef Manuel Garcia developed the menu.
Sherry flights are available for $16, cocktails are $13, sangria is $11 and vermouth is $7 to $9.
Charcuterie boards are $28 to $48. Signature tapas are $12 to $21.
Staff is trained to help customers with sherry and food pairings.
Señora Xerez hours are 4 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday; 4 to 10 p.m. Friday and Saturday; and 4 to 9 p.m. Sunday. It is closed Monday and Tuesday.
