Jacksonville-based Southeast Orthopedic Specialists will open a new, 14,500-square-foot clinic in St. Augustine in January.
The clinic is the first phase of a 37,000-square-foot medical facility expanding its orthopedic and spine services, according to a Dec. 5 news release.
The building is expected to be completed by August 2025.
It will be its ninth facility in Northeast Florida, according to its website.
It is at 45 Groover Loop, south of Florida 312 and about 5 miles east of Interstate 95.
Alpharetta, Georgia-based Meadows & Ohly, through Sr 207 Mob LLC, owns the land. The company purchased the property for about $2.3 million August. Its website says it specializes in health care real estate.
Jacksonville-based Batson-Cook is the contractor and Boulder Associates of Boulder, Colorado, is the architect.
The project broke ground on the three-phase project in November 2023, according to spokesperson David Lozano.
Phase one is the 14,500-square-foot preventative care clinic, the release said. A 4,800-square-foot imaging center is planned for March, followed by an ambulatory surgery center in August.
When completed, the facility is projected to treat more than 26,000 patients annually, the release said. It will have four operating rooms, 23 clinic exam rooms, two interventional pain management suites, an interventional radiology suite for diagnosis and treatment and one MRI suite.
Lozano estimated that 10 to 12 physicians will be on staff for clinical care with an additional 10 to 14 advanced care providers when the project is completed.
A 2019 release said Southeast Orthopedic Specialists partnered with Arizona-based Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company and its integrated care network. Its platform includes HOPCo’s clinical informational tools and analytics, patient engagement systems, facilities and management programs.
“Physicians at Southeast Orthopedic Specialists are leaders in their field with decades of experience including the completion of multiple fellowships and groundbreaking research,” Donnie Romine, CEO of Southeast Orthopedic Specialists and president of Healthcare Outcomes Performance Company Southeast Specialty Care Network, said in the Dec. 5 release.
“We are honored to provide this level of service, care and expertise to the citizens of St. Augustine and the surrounding communities.
“Our vision for the future is quickly taking shape and we couldn’t be more excited to offer so many services at this one location. We are proud to be the regional leader in musculoskeletal care and look forward to providing the entire spectrum of orthopedic and spine services to these communities.”
