Chase Bank can proceed with plans to raze two Ponte Vedra office buildings to build a new branch.
St. Johns County issued demolition permits Nov. 30 and Dec. 2. The St. Johns River Water Management District approved a minor modification Nov. 13 for the development of the 9,350-square-foot two-story bank with one drive-thru ATM and site improvements that include 58 parking spaces, landscaping, utilities and a stormwater management system.
The branch is planned at the Sawgrass Village shopping center where Chase operates a small branch next to Publix.
The 18,752-square-foot structure at 1000 Sawgrass Village Drive was built in 1986 and served as a professional services office building.
The second building, 6,624-square-foot building at 1100 Sawgrass Village Drive, was constructed in 1985 as a medical office.
Both buildings are vacant.
Jacksonville-based Marand Builders is the demolition contractor.
Chase Bank announced plans for the site in August as part of New York City-based JPMorgan Chase’s goal to add 10 new branches in Northeast Florida.
The bank purchased the properties for $5.25 million on May 31 from P.V. Healthcare Associates, 1100 SGVD-PV LLC and 1000 Sawgrass Village Association.
Dynamic Engineering Consultants PC of Delray Beach is the agent and civil engineer for the new construction. Jacksonville-based BGD Architects is the architect.
