With low temperatures in the forecast and Giving Tuesday on the calendar for Dec. 3, JEA is reminding customers about an opportunity to donate funds for Northeast Florida families experiencing temporary difficulty in paying their utility bills.

JEA’s Neighbor to Neighbor fund helps about 550 JEA customers maintain utility service annually, according to a news release from the city-owned utility.

The fund is administered by the United Way and Catholic Charities. JEA says every contribution is applied directly to people in need, with no expenses deducted by JEA or the agencies that manage the fund.

Citing the United Way of Northeast Florida, JEA says nearly 40% of the utility’s customers struggle to make ends meet. JEA offers payment solutions for customers struggling financially and works to connect them with local agencies for help.

Customers can contribute to Neighbor to Neighbor through their JEA account or by calling 904-665-6000. More information is available at jea.com/neighbor.
