A consulting firm that frequently provides Chick-fil-A with civil engineering and survey services is planning a drive-thru restaurant on an outparcel at the Walmart Supercenter proposed near World Commerce Center in St. Augustine.

Fort Lauderdale-based Bowman Consulting Group Ltd. has plans under review for the unnamed restaurant with the St. Johns River Water Management District.

The plans show a 5,558-square-foot restaurant with seating for 106 inside and 16 outside. The double drive-thru has a peak capacity of 57 cars. There will be 71 parking spaces.

The site plan shows a 180,364-square-foot Walmart Supercenter along with 868 parking spaces and eight outparcels. There are two new traffic signals along International Golf Parkway. The fast-food restaurant site is show at the top right.

The restaurant at 3405 B International Golf Parkway, about 2.2 miles southwest of retailers Buc-ee’s, Costco and the recently opened Bass Pro Shops. It is across the street from Tocoi Creek High School.

The shopping center comprises the Walmart and eight outparcels, one shown as a future fast-foot restaurant site and the other as a gas station and convenience store. The Walmart is still in the pre-application phase.

According to Bowman.com, the company partners with Chick-fil-A to provide services for new stores in Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Mississippi. The scope of work includes site planning, utility design, drainage and grading design as well as land, topographic and boundary surveys.

Bowman Consulting Group also collaborates with hamburger chain Checkers and drive-thru coffee shop Dutch Bros.

Commercial realtor Steinemann & Co., through World Commerce Center LLP, owns the land.

According to the Chick-fil-A website, founder S. Truett Cathy opened the first Chick-fil-A restaurant in Atlanta’s Greenbriar Shopping Center in 1967.

The chain operates more than 3,000 restaurants in 48 states, Washington, D.C., Puerto Rico and Canada, with 242 locations in Florida.

Chick-fil-A’s real estate team is responsible for selecting new locations in alignment with corporate expansion goals.
