St. Johns County approved plans Aug. 27 for The Fresh Market to build-out The Fresh Market Spirits & Wine and a coffee bar next to its Ponte Vedra Beach store.

The 8,029-square-foot liquor store will replace the closed discount home goods retailer Tuesday Morning at a project cost of $1.5 million

It will be at 840 Florida A1A N., Suite 210.

The St. Johns County Planning and Zoning Agency voted 5-1 April 18 to approve a minor modification to the store’s planned unit development. It allows alcohol sales 35 feet from The Bolles Lower School Ponte Vedra Beach Campus at 200 ATP Tour Blvd.

As part of the approval, the liquor store is required to have the same 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. hours as the grocery store.

Agency member Judy Spiegel voted against the modification, saying she was able to walk to the Bolles campus in six minutes from the store.

The grocery anchors the Corridors at Ponte Vedra shopping center at 840 Florida A1A N.

The Driver, McAfee, Hawthorne & Diebenow law firm represented The Fresh Market in the modification.

Other stores in Corridors at Ponte Vedra include R&R Cleaners, AAA, Rita’s Italian Ice, Zulu Surf Company, Elite Nails, Tanning & Day Spa and Dollar Tree.

The center is in the Palm Valley Overlay District.

The Fresh Market has 159 stores in 22 states, according to its website. There are three in Jacksonville, one in Fleming Island and one in Ponte Vedra Beach.
