The Petfolk veterinary care service is cleared to build-out space in The Strand at St. Johns Town Center.
The city issued a permit Aug. 27 for a $650,000 project to renovate a 2,869-square-foot location at 4852 Town Center Parkway.
The space is in the building occupied by Mission BBQ and Domu.
Petfolk.com shows the location will open in winter 2024.
Westmoreland Builders LLC of Southlake, Texas, is the contractor. Diversified Architectural Consulting of Charlotte is the architect.
Charlotte, North Carolina-based Petfolk operates, or will open soon, in 10 cities, according to its website.
Petfolk.com shows there are 20 locations with 12 opening soon among six states – Georgia, Florida, Arizona, Texas, North Carolina and South Carolina.
In addition to Jacksonville, the Florida locations comprise four in Orlando with one opening soon and four to open in Miami.
Jacksonville plans show six exam rooms, surgery, X-ray, treatment, dental and other areas.
Petfolk offers exams, vaccinations, urgent care, diagnostic testing and digital radiology, sick visits, surgery, dental care, behavior, nutrition and euthanasia.
It offers an annual membership of $199 for unlimited exams, anytime medical chat, and discounts on some services.
Customers also can pay per service.
