McDonald’s building at Plaza at Normandy in West Jacksonville

The fast-food restaurant will be developed in front of the new Publix Super Markets Inc. store at northwest Normandy Boulevard and Chaffee Road.

National burger chain McDonald’s is joining the new Plaza at Normandy shopping center in West Jacksonville where Publix Super Markets announced Aug. 15 it opened its new store.

The city issued a permit Aug. 23 for Davies General Contracting Inc. of McDonough, Georgia, to build the 3,835-square-foot McDonald’s fast-food restaurant on 1.4 acres at 11371 Normandy Blvd. at a project cost of $1.44 million. Plans show 38 seats.

McDonald’s is joining the new Publix-anchored Plaza at Normandy shopping center in West Jacksonville.

McDonald’s USA LLC of Chicago is listed as the business owner. WPG-Normandy LLC of Tampa is shown as the property owner.

The site is at northwest Normandy Boulevard and Chaffee Road and less than a mile northeast of the First Coast Expressway. The center is near AllianceFlorida at Cecil Commerce Center.

The city issued a site-clearing permit July 23 for the McDonald’s parcel at a project cost of $715,000.

The 3,835-square-foot McDonald’s is planned on 1.4 acres at 11371 Normandy Blvd.

A Franklin Street leasing brochure for the Plaza at Normandy shows two outparcels of 2.05 acres, where the brochure says a lease is pending for a gas station and convenience store, and 1.46 acres is for a fast-food tenant.

Within the inline shopping center anchored by Publix and Publix Liquors, one tenant space remains of 1,400 square feet. Tenants listed are Encore Nails, AT&T, a UPS Store and Xtreme Wings.

Wagner Property Group of Tampa bought 19.4 acres in West Jacksonville in February 2022 to develop the shopping center.
