Publix Super Markets announced Aug. 15 it opened its new store in West Jacksonville near Cecil Commerce Center.
Publix at Normandy is at 11341 Normandy Blvd. in the Plaza at Normandy retail center at Chaffee Road. The store is 0.8 mile northeast of Florida 23, also called the First Coast Expressway.
Publix said the 46,791-square-foot store has a pharmacy and an adjacent Publix Liquors. Plans show the 2,100-square-foot liquor store and 9,800 square feet of retail shops next door.
A Franklin Street leasing brochure shows one tenant space remains of 1,400 square feet. Tenants listed are Encore Nails, AT&T, a UPS Store and Xtreme Wings.
There are two outparcels of 2.05 acres, where a lease is pending for a gas station and convenience store, and 1.46 acres for a fast-food tenant.
Publix is open daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The pharmacy is open 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday,
The Daily Record reported the city issued permits in July 2023 for Atlanta-based Benning Construction Co. to build the Publix at a project cost of $3.5 million and a 9,800-square-foot retail shell building for tenants at $901,600.
Wagner Property Group bought 19.4 acres in West Jacksonville in February 2022 to develop the shopping center.
Publix says it is the largest employee-owned company in the U.S. with more than 255,000 associates.
It operates 1,377 stores in Florida, Georgia, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia and Kentucky.
