St. Johns County issued a permit April 23 for construction of The Home Depot and a garden center in World Commerce Center in St. Augustine at a project cost of $16.18 million.
White-Spunner Construction LLC of Mobile, Alabama, is the contractor for the 135,653-square-foot home improvement store at 2905 International Golf Parkway.
The Home Depot paid $6.97 million March 9 to purchase land in World Commerce Center, where it has been planning its third St. Johns County retail store.
Atlanta-based Home Depot USA Inc. bought the site from World Commerce Center LLP of Jacksonville.
In 2022, the Daily Record reported St. Johns County received a pre-application for a 136,014-square-foot building on 14.7 acres at what was then addressed as 655 World Commerce Center Parkway.
Those plans call for a 107,896-square-foot building and 28,118-square-foot garden center.
The site is west of Interstate 95 at World Commerce and International Golf parkways near the Gate gas station and convenience store. It is southwest of Costco Wholesale and Buc-ee’s.
The Home Depot would display merchandise along the front apron of the store, which faces International Golf Parkway. A tool rental center is proposed with outdoor storage for rental equipment.
A seasonal sales area of 8,885 square feet is proposed next to the garden center for sales events through the year, including Christmas tree sales.
There would be parking for the Home Depot Load’N Go rental vehicles and rental equipment.
The GreenbergFarrow architecture and engineering firm of Atlanta is the consultant.
Home Depot has St. Johns County stores in The Pavilion at Durbin Park and at 1750 U.S. 1 S. in St. Augustine.
