D’Bo’s Daiquiris, Wings & Seafood is coming to the former Jazzy’s Restaurant and Lounge space in Riverside.
It is the Memphis-based chain’s first Jacksonville location.
The restaurant is at 901 King St., at King and College streets.
Franchisees Tanya Wright and daughter Tiyionna Irizarry expect to open in mid-May, according to the website What Now Jacksonville.
D’Bo’s has locations in Memphis and Detroit. The company also plans to open restaurants in Atlanta, Chicago and Winter Haven.
David and Leticia Boyd founded the company in 1990.
D’Bo’s began as a food truck that the couple financed by maxing-out credit cards, according to the restaurant website.
Wright worked at a Memphis location before moving to Jacksonville.
The restaurant specializes in Memphis-style hot wings. Seafood items include crab, shrimp, lobster and catfish. There are a variety of burgers, hot dogs and sides. It features frozen daiquiris.
It also sells its hot sauce, mild sauce and an all-purpose dry seasoning.
The company applied for zoning to obtain a full liquor license. A public hearing is scheduled at the Jacksonville City Council meeting April 23, and the Land Use and Zoning committee will vote on bills 2024-237 and E-24-12 on May 7. The bill will then return to Council for a final vote.
Jazzy’s Restaurant and Lounge closed in August when increased insurance costs due to slip-and-fall lawsuits became too expensive, owner Celestia Mobley told Daily Record news partner News4Jax.com.
