The Jacksonville Bar Association will present a lunch-and-learn focused on state Supreme Court Chief Justice Carlos Muñiz’s order directing the Judicial Circuit Assessment Committee to review the possible consolidation of some of Florida’s 20 judicial circuits.
Topics will include the factors driving the review, potential outcomes and the significance of public input in shaping the future of Florida’s judicial system.

The program begins at noon Oct. 3 in the jury assembly room at the Duval County Courthouse. CLE credit is pending approval by The Florida Bar.
With an emphasis on an unbiased and open-minded approach, the committee members, including judges, state attorneys, public defenders and private practice attorneys, are evaluating the potential impact and disruption of consolidation while addressing limitations in the judicial process.
State Attorney for the 4th Judicial Circuit Melissa Nelson and JBA past President Braxton Gillam, committee members, will explain the background and context of the order, the committee’s responsibilities, the public’s involvement, and the implications of circuit consolidation within the district court of appeal boundaries.
