Gate Petroleum adding gas station, car wash at Glen Kernan Park

Jacksonville-based Gate bought the land in 2021 and will join Culver’s, Slim Chickens and Embassy Suites at the residential and retail development at Butler and Hodges boulevards.

Gate Petroleum Co. is building a gas station, convenience store and car wash at Glen Kernan Park, the residential and retail development at northwest Butler and Hodges boulevards, at an almost $5 million construction cost.

The city issued permits Sept. 8 for North Coast Construction Co. of St. Augustine to build the projects at 4740 and 4750 Hodges Blvd.

Jacksonville-based Gate will build a 6,564-square-foot convenience store, fuel canopy and dumpster enclosure at 4750 Hodges Blvd. at a construction cost of $2.87 million.

It will build a car wash, pay station and dumpster enclosure at a cost of almost $2.1 million at 4740 Hodges Blvd.

Gate paid almost $3.77 million for the 2.94-acre site in December 2021. It bought the vacant land from the Kernan R. Hodges Trust.

Glen Kernan Park is an almost 50-acre mixed-use development near Mayo Clinic in Florida. It is across the street from the Publix-anchored Windsor Commons Shopping Center.

Gate is joining several developments at Glen Kernan Park, including Culver’s, Slim Chickens and Dunkin' restaurants as well as an Embassy Suites by Hilton hotel.

Glen Kernan Park also will feature housing development, all for 55+ residents, by RISE: A Real Estate Company.
