While it’s been reported that the prospective sale of Regency Square Mall does not include the Dillard’s Clearance Center, the store wants to make it clear it is not part of the sale and is not closing.
That’s what store associates are telling customers at the clearance center, which is at the 9501 Arlington Expressway mall.
Dillard Department Stores Inc. of Little Rock, Arkansas, bought the site in October 1992.
It owns its building and is not part of the property that Lake City-based Blackwater Development LLC says it has under contract to buy from Regency Realty LLC, a partnership of Mason Asset Management and Namdar Realty Group LLC, both based in Great Neck, New York.
The two-level, 185,768-square-foot Dillard’s store was built in 1992 on a north wing of the mall that is connected to its west wing.
When it converted into a Dillard’s Clearance Center after 2000, the store closed off the top floor and now operates only on the ground floor.
It is now open only to the parking lot facing north with no internal access. The west wing of the mall is closed.
The store sells an extensive selection of clearance items from regional Dillard department stores and says it receives “new trucks weekly!!!!!!”
There are no returns, exchanges and price adjustments, it says.
Dillard’s posts a list of sale items weekly on its site and at the door.
For example, for Oct. 17-22, ladies’ dresses were $14.99; men’s long-sleeve shirts were $14.99; ladies social apparel was $39.99; and some ladies’ shoes were $9.99.
Clothes racks and shelving are arranged much like a typical Dillard’s store.
Hours are noon-7 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday and noon-6 p.m. Sunday. The store is closed Monday.
The dillards.com site posts prices and hours.
A Dillard’s Inc. corporate spokesperson did not have a comment about the Clearance Center remaining open and separately owned in Jacksonville.
“Thank you for reaching out. I am respectfully declining,” said Julie Johnson Guymon, director of investor relations, Oct. 19.
The closed Sears store and Impact Church also are separately owned at Regency Square Mall.
Blackwater Development said it is in due diligence and could buy the mall next year.
