Cross Regions Group broke ground May 25 for the building that will become Jacksonville University’s location at The Fountains at St. Johns in St. Johns County.
The first floor of the two-story, 12,000-square-foot building next to Ascension St. Vincent’s Health Center – St. Johns will be an educational facility for the university’s health care sciences programs.
Completion of the facility is anticipated in summer 2024.
The contractor is Dana B. Kenyon Co. The architect is Don Scott Fraser, Design Development Architecture.
JU’s Brooks Rehabilitation College of Healthcare Sciences offers health care science and applied health science education to address the gap in primary care services and workforce shortages, according to a news release.
The Fountains at St. Johns is a mixed-use medical and retail development that includes Ascension St. Vincent’s Health Center – St. Johns. It includes a 160-room Home2 Suites by Hilton hotel, apartments, Chappell Schools building and a town square of retail and restaurants.
Plans include an assisted living facility and wellness center.
The development is on nearly 100 acres at northeast County Road 210 West and Interstate 95 in northern St. Johns County.
“Jacksonville has become a globally recognized healthcare hub and Jacksonville University is advancing its position and expanding its reach as a leader in cutting-edge healthcare education,” Cross Regions Group President and CEO David Ergisi said in the release.
Cross Regions Group also is developing two additional medical and retail centers, Duval Station in North Jacksonville and Tyler Plaza West and Coastal Callahan, medical and retail centers in Nassau County.
