The Downtown Development Review Board approved designs for Miami-based Amkin Hogan LLC’s 500-space expansion for its parking garage at 336 W. Bay St.
The board voted 7-0 on May 11 to approve designs for the 10-story addition south of JTA’s Skyway Central Station across from TIAA Bank Center.
Board member Christian Harden recused himself from the vote but not say why.
Driver, McAfee, Hawthorne & Diebenow attorney Staci Rewis, who represented Amkin on the project, told the board the garage owner has “some future development plans” near the site but did not provide further details.
She said Amkin would be responsible for maintaining the landscaping, which includes greenery planted on the building’s facade.
Studio 9 Architecture Principal and former review board member Craig Davisson led the project design. He said the majority of the building will be off-white, precast concrete with a limestone-style finish.
He said the metal screening will be colored an off-blue metallic.
The proposed start of the project is late 2023. It is expected to be completed in 2025.
Preliminary discussions to include ground-floor retail ended.
Prosser is the civil engineer on the project.
