Wine bar operator Vino Volo and the Jacksonville Aviation Authority agreed to terms to create an expanded wine concept as well as add a new Verdi Market at Jacksonville International Airport.

It will more than double in size at its original Vino Volo location on Concourse C.

Verdi Market will feature Jacksonville-based Pura Bean Coffee Co. with fresh bakery and grab-and-go items.

Vino Volo will offer a larger menu selection, adding breakfast, larger plates, craft beer on tap and cocktails.

The JAA board is scheduled to vote July 27 on the food and beverage lease concession agreement with Vino Volo parent, ABC Wine Bar LLC.

Vino Volo operates a temporary kiosk at Concourse C as construction continues to expand the security checkpoint, which meant the wine bar had to close its location for that project.

Vino Volo will continue to operate a kiosk as construction starts this year on the larger concept and Verdi Market for a projected opening in the first quarter of 2024.

The Jacksonville Aviation Authority is negotiating a lease for Vino Volo to add a Verdi Market coffee shop and concession to sell baked goods and grab-and-go items at Jacksonville International Airport.

The aviation authority awarded Vino Volo, through ABC Wine Bar LLC, a lease and concession agreement in 2013 to develop, manage and operate a 1,266-square-foot location at the airport.

State corporate records show ABC Wine Bar LLC is based in Atlanta and does not appear to be connected to Orlando-based ABC Fine Wine & Spirits.

Atlanta-based Hojeij Branded Foods bought the California-based Vino Volo airport wine bar and wine retail chain in 2017.

The aviation authority and Vino Volo have negotiated terms in the new agreement for a 10-year lease for about 2,619 square feet of space in the post-security location.

Vino Volo will spend at least $2.1 million for improvements and pay a percentage of gross revenue at a minimum annual $240,000 for the first year.

The breakdown is 12% for years one through five and 14% for years six through 10 for food and nonalcoholic beverages; 14% and then 16% for merchandise; and 16.3% and then 18% for alcoholic beverages.

JAA management recommends the board approve the lease agreement effective July 27 and authorizes authority CEO Mark VanLoh to execute the documents.

The board is scheduled to meet at 8:30 a.m. July 27 in the Ed Austin Board Room on the third floor of the JAA administration building at 14201 Pecan Park Road near the airport.
