PGA Tour pro golfer Fred Funk bought a home at 4413 Hunterson Lane in Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club on June 29 for $2.495 million.
Funk and his wife, Sharon, purchased the house from Shane and Christine Silver.
Glen Kernan Golf & Country Club is at northeast Butler and Kernan boulevards in South Jacksonville.
The Silvers bought the home in 2015 for $1.379 million. The house was built in 2014 and they were its first owners.
The five-bedroom, five-bath house is 5,042 square feet and sits on 0.61 acres. It backs up to the golf course.
There is a bonus room, gym, three-car garage, summer kitchen, pool and spa.
Funk, 67, is an eight-time PGA Tour winner, including The Players Championship in 2005. His fans are known as Funk’s Punks.
In November 2020, Funk sold a home on 5384 Chandler Bend Drive in Pablo Creek Reserve for $2.92 million.
He joined the PGA Tour in 1989 and the PGA Tour Champions circuit in 2006. He has career winnings of $21.3 million.
He was a member of the 2003 and 2005 Presidents Cup teams and the 2004 Ryder Cup team.
Funk came to the support of J.T. Townsend, an Episcopal High School football player who was paralyzed from the neck down during a game in 2004. In addition to becoming Townsend’s friend, Funk helped found the JT Townsend Foundation.
Townsend died in 2013.
