The Duval County Clerk of Courts was acknowledged for outstanding performance in all 10 categories in the Florida Court Clerks and Comptrollers third annual Best Practices Excellence Program.
Among the 68 counties in the state, 57 offices participated in the program, and 37 clerks received Recognition of Excellence certificates in every category.
“I want to commend all of the clerks and their staff recognized for demonstrating these high professional standards, and I thank our FCCC Best Practices Chair Laura Roth for her continued leadership in growing this wonderful program,” 2022-23 FCCC President and Martin County Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller Carolyn Timmann said in a news release.
Each year, the association designates subject areas and clerks are able to advise whether they are meeting and/or exceeding agreed upon statewide benchmarks for service in those areas.
The best practices evaluated this year were appeals, court record retention and destruction, determination of indigency, evidence storage and destruction, exploitation of vulnerable adult injunction, guardianship audits, reporting mental health cases to state agencies, requests to redact exempt personal information, risk protection orders and unclaimed funds.
The award was announced June 8 at the FCCC summer conference at the Sawgrass Marriott in Ponte Vedra Beach.
