Southern Steer Butcher, which says it offers “fresh cuts of quality meat from sustainable farms,” announced it will open its first Jacksonville store Feb. 3.

The store, at 5421 Roosevelt Blvd., is south of Ortega about a half-mile north of Timuquana Road in a former Pizza Hut.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

The franchise is owned by What’s One More LLC, led by Chris and Simone Croft.

Chris Croft began his career working in the restaurant industry, and then worked at a mechanical contracting company before owning his own plumbing company, Southern Steer said in a news release.

“After getting to know the leadership team and spending time learning more about the brand’s model of success, we knew this would be the best choice for our family,” Simone Croft said.

The release said Southern Steer Butcher is eager to make an impact in the community. It launched the Project 52 charity in 2017 and donates a meal to a family in need weekly. Project 52 also provides meals to first responders and health care workers.

The city issued a permit Nov. 1 for Emerald C’s Development Inc. to build-out the 2,275-square-foot space for Southern Steer at a project cost of $200,000.

President Greg Snyder founded Southern Steer Butcher LLC in Clearwater in 2013. It also has stores in Orlando and Sarasota.
