Atlanta-based Chick-fil-A Inc. wants to build a restaurant in North Jacksonville and renovate a location in OakLeaf Town Center.

The two are among several new and renovated stores planned in the Jacksonville area by the chicken sandwich and tenders company.

In North Jacksonville, Chick-fil-A wants to build a 5,000-square-foot restaurant on 1.12 acres at Duval Station, Bradley Cove and Lady Lake roads near Duval Station Centre.

Chick-fil-A customers would enter and exit the restaurant from Lady Lake near the North Creek subdivision.

JEA issued a utility service availability determination letter Jan. 3 to civil engineer Bohler of Boca Raton for the project.

“While we are still early in the process, Chick-fil-A is happy to share that we are actively pursuing a new location at Duval Station,” said a company statement emailed Jan. 10.

“We look forward to working through the approval process with the City of Jacksonville,” it said.

The project is described as the development of a proposed quick-serve restaurant with a double drive-thru on a vacant site.

The location is west of Duval Station Centre, owned and anchored by Publix Super Markets Inc., at 731 Duval Station Road. It is across the street from First Coast High School.

Lady Lake Road connects to Duval Station Centre and the North Creek subdivision. A preliminary plan for Chick-Fil-A shows two entries and exits along Lady Lake Road.

There does not appear to be an entrance into the Chick-fil-A site from Duval Station Road. Drivers would have to turn onto Bradley Cove Road, also the entrance to the North Creek subdivision, to reach Lake Lake Road. Drivers also could reach the restaurant from Duval Station Centre.

Lakeland-based Publix Super Markets Inc. bought the Duval Station Marketplace Shopping Center in March 2018 for $15 million.

Publix, which now calls it Duval Station Centre, anchors the 81,802-square-foot center on 9.34 acres. The center was developed in 2003.

Chick-fil-A in OakLeaf

Chick-fil-A proposes to reinvest in and improve its 4,227-square-foot restaurant at 9630 Applecross Road in OakLeaf Town Center in Southwest Jacksonville.

JEA issued a service availability determination letter Jan. 11 to civil engineer CPH LLC of Jacksonville.

The proposed improvements include a 437-square-foot expansion with renovations, an additional drive-thru lane with a canopy, and modifications to the parking, pedestrian access, landscape, drainage, utilities and lighting.

The almost 1.11-acre site is on the north side of Argyle Forest Boulevard between Merchants Way and Old Middleburg Road.

Property records show the restaurant was built in 2008.
