Two retailers are leaving their Jacksonville shopping center spaces – one to close and one to move.
The Copper Closet is closing at St. Johns Town Center and Jimmy Jazz is leaving Regency Square Mall to move across Atlantic Boulevard to Regency Plaza.
The Copper Closet
The Copper Closet is closing at St. Johns Town Center by the end of the month as it sells its remaining merchandise for $10.
“Everything $10. Store closing,” says a sign in the window at 4712 River City Drive, No. 103, on the same block as Barnes & Noble.
Fixtures are for sale from $10 to $30.
The store is no longer shown on the St. Johns Town Center store directory.
An associate said Dec. 21 the lease is expiring. The Copper Closet had been in the space about a year, moving from another storefront in Town Center where it opened about 2017.
Jacksonville-based Copper Closet sells “trendy & affordable women’s boutique shopping.”
The website says it has 10 other locations in Florida and Georgia and also operates online. The closest store is in Gainesville.
Jimmy Jazz
At Regency Square Mall, Jimmy Jazz is preparing to move across the street to Regency Plaza, where it will operate as Snipes, the brand of its parent company.
The move is expected in early 2024 after the new location is built-out.
Snipesusa.com describes Jimmy Jazz as “the destination where streetwear and sport culture intersect.”
The city issued a permit Dec. 12 for Snipes-USA to build-out 5,804 square feet of space at 9770 Atlantic Blvd. in Regency Plaza at a project cost of $638,380.
Southpaw Solutions LLC of Greenville, South Carolina, is the contractor.
Regency Plaza is anchored by Office Max and Burlington.
District 1 City Council member Ken Amaro said Sept. 29 that he understood Jimmy Jazz will be leaving Regency Square Mall, which is at 9501 Arlington Expressway.
Snipes grew from a German-based streetwear retailer to a global footprint that includes more than 300 stores in the United States.
Jimmy Jazz sells lifestyle, streetwear and footwear brands including Nike, Jordan, Adidas, Polo Footwear, Levi’s and Decibel, remains open. The Snipesusa.com site labels the Regency Square Mall store as a Snipes.
Jimmy Jazz is one of the few remaining retail tenants at Regency Square Mall, which is under contract for sale to a Lake City-based developer who is considering redevelopment of the property.
However, the Dillard’s Clearance Center, Impact Church and closed Sears stores are separately owned.
