The Wimberly at Deerwood apartments at 9727 Touchton Road sold Aug. 23 for $64.54 million.
Olympus Property of Fort Worth, Texas, sold the apartments through WW Deerwood LP.
The buyer was Tampa-based American Landmark, through The Drake at Deerwood LP.
American Landmark has six apartment properties in the metropolitan Jacksonville area.
The company has changed the name to The Drake at Deerwood.
It plans an extensive renovation and repositioning plan, according to a news release.
Upgrades include remodeling the clubhouse, fitness center and pool/summer kitchen area.
There will be new EV charging stations, package lockers and camera system.
There will be upgraded roofs as well as landscaping and exterior paint.
“Jacksonville is benefiting from new and expanding employers in the region and has emerged as one of the fastest-growing cities in the country,” Christine DeFilippis, chief investment officer at American Landmark, said in the release.
“A lower cost of living, diversified economy, and proximity to destinations like the beaches underpin future growth.”
Built in 2000, the 322-unit community has one-, two- and three-bedroom units from 659 to more than 1,300 square feet.
Rents are $1,265 to $2,081, according to apartmentratings.com.
The sale price was $200,776 per unit.
