The city issued a permit Aug. 2 for construction of the eight-story, 252-room Hilton Hotel at the Mayo Clinic in Florida campus at a project cost of $49.5 million.
William A. Randolph Inc. of Gurnee, Illinois, is the contractor for the hotel and conference center at 4745 Transformation Way at the new entrance to the Mayo campus at 4500 San Pablo Road S.
Mayo announced June 26 that construction would begin this summer for completion in 2025.
It is on the south side of the campus near Butler Boulevard where the new Transformation Way entrance to Mayo Clinic is open.
Mayo announced the hotel as a $70 million project in September 2021.
The building signs will include Hilton Mayo Campus Conference Center.
Representatives held a groundbreaking ceremony June 28.
Concord Hospitality is the hotel management, ownership and development company. Whitman Peterson is the real estate private equity company.
Mayo said in a news release the hotel will offer elevated accommodations and amenities including a pool, fitness center, restaurant and indoor and outdoor meeting spaces.
The first-floor, one-story conference center, which is connected to the eight-story hotel, has ballrooms and meeting space.
Plans show the owners are Concord Hospitality of Raleigh, North Carolina, and Whitman Peterson of Westlake Village, California.
DLR Group of Chicago is the architect. Prosser of Jacksonville is the civil engineer.
The 184,111-square-foot Hilton would give the Mayo campus its second hotel. The Courtyard by Marriott Jacksonville at the Mayo Clinic Campus/Beaches opened in 2021.
