The Chester Bedell American Inn of Court is accepting applications for membership for the 2023 to 2024 Inn year.
The application deadline is May 5, 2023.
Members may serve as pupils (students at accredited law schools), associates (lawyers with up to five years’ experience), barristers (lawyers with more than five and up to 15 years’ experience), or masters (more than 15 years’ experience).
The term for pupils is one year, for associates two years, and for barristers three years.
There is no term for masters.

The mission of the American Inns of Court is to foster excellence in professionalism, ethics, civility, and legal skills.
The concept for the American Inns of Court was developed in the 1970s by lawyers and judges, including Chief Justice Warren Burger, Chief Circuit Judge Clifford Wallace, Dean Rex Lee of Brigham Young University Law School (and later Solicitor General of the United States), Senior District Judge Sherman Christensen, and Professor Sherman Cohn of Georgetown Law School.
There now are nearly 400 chartered American Inns of Court in 48 states, the District of Columbia, Guam and Tokyo.
There are more than 30,000 active members nationwide, including federal and state judges, lawyers, law professors and law students.
