Jacksonville Orthopaedic Institute intends to open a physical therapy center in the Atlantic Boulevard shopping center anchored by BJ’s Wholesale Club.
The 3,200-square-foot physical therapy facility will open at 12220 Atlantic Blvd., Suite 110, near the AT&T store. The shopping center is at southeast Atlantic and Kernan boulevards.
JOI, which is affiliated with Baptist Health, said the Atlantic location will be its 13th physical therapy center in Northeast Florida.
“The JOI Rehab Atlantic Center will have custom built amenities in a well-equipped gym area,” the joionline.net site says.
It said the facility will offer hand therapy as well.
JOI said it will open this year, but did not state a date.
The city issued a permit March 17 for Auld & White Constructors LLC to renovate 3,278 square feet of space at a cost of $189,000.
JOI said that area of Jacksonville continues to grow. It is near the University of North Florida.
“This area is home to Jacksonville’s very own University of North Florida Ospreys.”
Au;d & White Constructors LLC applied to city utility JEA to determine service availability. JEA responded April 12.
Sleiman Enterprises is the landlord for Atlantic-Kernan Shops, whose site plan shows the space as available.
“The staff at JOI Rehab Atlantic are experienced in all of the orthopedic conditions and post-surgical protocols. While they certainly work closely with our 34 JOI Orthopedic Physicians, they also accept referrals from other physicians who prescribe physical therapy,” the JOI site says.
Its current rehab centers are in Arlington, Baptist Beaches, Fleming Island/Clay County, Mandarin, Nassau Rehab, Nocatee, North Jacksonville, Point Meadows, San Marco, South Jacksonville, Westside and World Golf Village.
