The Downtown Development Review Board staff supports conceptual review of a design and plans for a proposed wine bar and retail location in Brooklyn.
Dedalus Wine at 825 Doro St. is planned for the former Liddy’s Machine Shop.
The plan proposes using 7,000 square feet for the retail sale of wine, cheese and charcuterie as well as a wine bar. The remaining 3,000 square feet will be used for two separate retail tenant businesses.
It is behind the 220 Riverside apartments and west of Brooklyn Station on Riverside, which is anchored by The Fresh Market.
The project will remodel the existing building that was constructed in 1954. Liddy’s had been in business for 91 years.
Dedalus is a Burlington, Vermont-based retail wine company. In addition to five locations in Vermont, there is a Dedalus in Boulder, Colorado.
The company, founded in 2007, is owned by Jason Zuliani.
The business intends to take advantage of the building’s seven bays that open onto Doro Street. Entrances will be canopied and outdoor customer access is proposed.
Lay Duckworth Construction is the contractor. It is being designed by Thomas Duke Architecture and engineered by Lowe Structures.
Once work begins, it is expected to be completed in six months, according to the DDRB report.
The board is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. April 13 virtually and in the Jacksonville Main Library Conference Center at 303 N. Laura St.
