Walmart Inc. filed a notice with state officials under the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act saying it is cutting 69 field maintenance operations workers who report to a facility in Jacksonville.

The company's March 20 letter said the jobs are various positions in Florida and represent about one-third of the workforce who report to the facility at 8120 Nations Way.

The affected employees were notified Feb. 7 and the layoffs will be effective as of May 19, it said.

The company said affected employees can apply for open positions at Walmart during a 90-day paid job search period and would be eligible for severance after the 90 days if they don't have another position.
