Two Whataburgers in development in Jacksonville

One is at southeast Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road; the other is on Normandy Boulevard.

In the Baymeadows/Deerwood area, the city is reviewing a building-permit application and issued a concurrency reservation certificate for a 3,214-square-foot Whataburger on almost an acre at 8325 Southside Blvd. between Walgreens and AutoZone.

The construction cost is estimated at $2.1 million.

Peter Sleiman Development Group, through Dow Equities LLC, is the property owner.

Whataburger proposes to develop a double-drive-thru prototype restaurant at the site at southeast Southside Boulevard and Baymeadows Road.

Agent, engineer and architect Sevan Multi-Site Solutions said in a letter to the St. Johns River Water Management District that its client, Mahogany Properties LLC, proposes to develop the vacant parcel.

In West Jacksonville, Whataburger Restaurants LLC of Wilmington, Delaware, applied to the city for a certificate of use at 7755 Normandy Blvd.

The 3,074-square-foot restaurant is west of Interstate 295.
