Chuck E. Cheese in the Regency area will be renovated inside and out.
The city issued a building permit Oct. 13 for Parkway C&A LP of Lewisville, Texas, to renovate the 12,049-square-foot entertainment venue at a project cost of $365,000.
PKWY Architecture LLC of Lewisville is the architect.
Chuck E. Cheese is at 9820 Atlantic Blvd. in the Regency Plaza Shopping Center at southeast Atlantic Boulevard and Live Oak Drive. Its signage is Chuck E Cheese’s.
Exterior work includes painting the building with new Chuck E. Cheese colors, new signage and logos under a separate company, new front doors and lighting replacement.
Interior work includes painting, replacing seating, upgrading furniture, adding new games and putting in new wall finishes, paint, décor and lighting.
Chuck E. Cheese will reconfigure the vestibule and entry half-walls. It will remove the current stage area and replace it with a game dance floor and video wall.
There will be other improvements, including ADA compliant upgrades to the restrooms.
The kitchen will remain as is.
The shopping center was developed in 1973 with a restaurant addition in 1997. Chuck E. Cheese appears to have been in one of the original buildings.
The city approved a renovation permit for the Youngerman Circle Chuck E. Cheese in 2020 at $400,000.
The Shops Lane Chuck E. Cheese was built in 2015-16.
PMQ.com, a pizza media site, reported in November 2019 that Chuck E. Cheese was renovating its family entertainment centers.
“Where there was once a dark, noisy arcade full of kids zipping about with tokens jangling in their full pockets, there is now a ‘lighted interactive dance floor’ while kids use pre-paid play passes,” it reported.
Parents can track children’s spending and playtime.
“The most jarring change of all: The restaurant’s nearly 50-year-old band has officially split up,” it said, referring to the animatronics band.
Chuck E. Cheese is owned by CEC Entertainment LLC.
