Geico is building-out space at a cost of $1.97 million on the fourth floor of the Deerwood South office building for what appears to be an operations call center.
Tenant Contractors Inc. is the contractor for tenant improvements to the 31,400-square-foot space at 10151 Deerwood Park Blvd., No. 400.
That size can accommodate more than 200 people.
The city issued a permit Nov. 3 for the project.
Geico has not responded to attempts to reach it for comment.
Area real estate market reports say Geico will lease 34,164 square feet of space.
Plans indicate offices, training rooms, HR, conference rooms, collaboration space, a break room and open work areas that appear to have space for more than 200 workstations.
The office takes up the top floor of the building.
Connie Turner Interiors Inc. is the interior designer and space planner.
It’s not clear where Geico has its operations functions in Jacksonville.
It leases at 6255 Lake Gray Blvd., Suite 4, for the Geico/BoatUS Jacksonville Service Center.
There is no indication whether it will relocate.
“With only a few hundred associates, you’ll love the small office feel while working in sunny Florida - where GEICO | BoatU.S. is the #1 boat insurer in the state,” says Geico.com.
“Here you can work in sales, service, claims, or within membership services, which includes the dispatch services for TowBoatU.S., the nation’s largest water towing fleet.”
Openings in that office include sales, customer service and claims representatives.
A job posted 12 days ago for a customer service representative lists among its qualifications the “ability to work and grow in a fast-paced, high-volume call center environment.”
“You’ll be the first contact for our customers: answering billing questions, making policy changes, and providing recommendations.”
A job posted three days ago for claims service also lists the ability to work in the call center environment and describes the job.
“As a Claims Service Specialist, you will collect facts about the accident, investigate claim details, and collect statements from involved parties.”
