The Jacksonville Housing Authority announced completion of major renovations at Centennial Towers, a 208-unit affordable housing apartment community for older adults and disabled residents at 230 E. First St. in East Jacksonville north of Downtown.
The $27 million project included installation of new kitchen cabinets, appliances, flooring and windows in all of the apartment units, as well as new plumbing, electrical systems and HVAC throughout the building. The project included new elevators, roof and exterior façade.
“This was a significant renovation project for the Jacksonville Housing Authority as we continue to provide high quality, safe, affordable housing for our senior and disabled population in Jacksonville,” authority President and CEO Dwayne Alexander said in a May 20 news release.
Alexander said the authority has invested more than $90 million to renovate and upgrade existing housing stock and is seeking other opportunities to increase low-income and workforce housing.
TVC Development LLC and Jax Urban Initiatives Development LLC were the developers. The general contractor was Auld & White Constructors LLC. The architect was Group 4 Design Inc.
Financing was provided by Raymond James and Bank of America.
