Sportsman’s Warehouse is starting construction on a store at River City Marketplace, which marks the outdoor specialty retailer’s entrance into Northeast Florida.
The city issued a permit July 20 for Able Construction Inc. of Jacksonville to prepare almost 40,000 square feet of shell space at a cost of $1.38 million.
Sportsman’s Warehouse will open at 13075 City Square Drive, No. 107, next to Burlington in the North Jacksonville shopping center.
The city is reviewing a permit for a $2.06 million interior build-out of the shell space. Cameron Construction of Salt Lake City is shown as the contractor for that project. Glenn W. Anderson, Architect of Salt Lake City is the architect.
Colliers real estate firm Senior Directors Nancy Sumner and Katy Figg and Director Eric Yi represent the landlord in leasing.
Sportsman’s Warehouse said in a January 2022 investor presentation that it had 122 stores in 29 states as of Dec. 25, 2021, at an average size of 38,000 square feet.
It is based in West Jordan, Utah, south of Salt Lake City, and was founded in 1986.
Sportsman’s Warehouse opened 10 stores in 2021 and announced five for 2022 comprising two in Utah and one each in California, Ohio and Wyoming.
It said it expects seven to 10 new stores in 2022.
Sportsman’s Warehouse has one Florida store in Lady Lake north of Orlando.
