Jerry’s Artarama is leasing the former Performance Bicycle store in the Tinseltown area.
The Raleigh, North Carolina-based discount art supplies and materials company opened in the 10,260-square-foot building at 4421 Southside Blvd.
Hours are 10 a.m.-7 p.m. Monday-Saturday and noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
Specialty bike retailer Performance Bicycle closed its store in January 2019 six years after opening there. Its parent company filed bankruptcy in late 2018.
The building was the former David Gates Golf Headquarters building. When the bike shop closed, property owner and golfer David Gates, who is based in Ponte Vedra Beach, posted a sign that the store was available for lease.
Gates transferred the building, developed in 1998, to his GLM SS LLC in 2013.
Jerry’s Artarama has 15 stores in 10 states plus affiliated locations. Its also has Florida stores in Deerfield Beach and Miami.
It operates Jerry’s Art Supply & Framing Wholesale Clubs in Miami and in Greensboro, North Carolina.
Jerrysartarama.com says Jerry Goldstein and his wife, Arline, opened the first store in 1968 in Great Neck, New York. The headquarters moved to Raleigh in 1994.
Jerry’s Artarama of Jacksonville LLC registered its name with the state effective July 1, 2021.
