The United Negro College Fund and Edward Waters University announced the inaugural Jacksonville Mayor’s Masked Ball will be March 18 at the Prime F. Osborn III Convention Center.

Mayor Lenny Curry and Edward Waters President A. Zachary Faison, Jr. are co-hosting the event, which hopes to raise $500,000 for UNCF and the historically black college in Northwest Jacksonville.

“HBCUs are major engines of Black social and economic mobility and the prosperity of state and local communities. Yet, they remain systemically underfunded,” said UNCF  President and CEO Michael Lomax in a news release.

“I encourage you to invest in UNCF so together we can invest in and build future generations of Black college students who will lead this nation and contribute to our economy. Events like the Jacksonville Mayor’s Masked Ball help us do just that.”

The event begins with dinner at 7 p.m. and live entertainment from 8- p.m. Individual tickets are $300 and table sponsorships are $3,000 to $75,000.

Event sponsors include Sissine’s Office Systems/The Leb Family Foundation; CSX Transportation, Florida Blue, VyStar Credit Union, Ellucian and others.
