O-Ku restaurant opened Feb. 8 at 502 First St. N. in Jacksonville Beach after a limited opening over the weekend for the runners in the 15th Donna Marathon.
O-Ku is part of a chain operated by the Indigo Road Group of Charleston, South, Carolina. The group’s more than 1,000 employees work at 24 hotel and restaurant properties.
O-Ku has locations in Atlanta, Charleston, Nashville, Tennessee, Washington, D.C., and in Charlotte and Raleigh, North Carolina.
Property records show that Jax Beach AF LLC of Jacksonville bought 502 First St. N. and 0 N. Fourth Ave. from East View Inc. of Ponte Vedra for $700,000 on Oct. 10, 2016.
The North Fourth Avenue property provides limited parking. The Indigo Road Group is leasing the space from Jax Beach AF LLC.
O-Ku is open from 5-10 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday, according to its website. It has dining room and bar seating with a rooftop bar and tables that provide ocean view dining. Reservations are available at o-kusushi.com.
“O-Ku’s menu is comprised of signature starters, contemporary Japanese entrees and seasonal traditional sushi that reflect the uniquely designed space,” says the website.
“The beachside location with waterfront and rooftop dining offers traditional sashimi and specialty rolls, sourcing seafood from the finest markets in Tokyo and Hawaii alongside local and seasonal ingredients,” it says.
The menu offers small plate starters priced $5 to $22. Nigiri and sashimi are $6 to $9 each, sushi rolls are $10 to $18. Japanese Wagyu beef is $25 per ounce and omakase, the chef’s multicourse tasting menu, is $125 per person. A sake pairing is $50 extra.
