The former Red Lobster building at 7707 Arlington Expressway is becoming the House of Grace & Glory. The city is reviewing a permit application for Nesmith Construction for first-phase construction of 3,500 square feet at a cost of $241,484.
Samuel Robuste and Sonia Robuste Metelus paid $545,000 for the property Aug. 16.
They bought the property from AVH Restaurant LLC, which purchased it in 2004 from GMRI Inc., formerly General Mills Restaurants Inc. and Red Lobster Inns of America Inc.
The construction contract proposal shows that Robuste is the pastor of House of Grace & Glory. The 8,435-square-foot restaurant was built in 1972 on about 1.5 acres and has had several names since Red Lobster closed.
St. Johns County issued a construction permit Jan. 20 for a 3,000-square-foot First Florida Credit Union office at 270 Harper Land in Durbin Creek Crossing at a cost of $1.72 million.
It will be the Jacksonville-based credit union’s 18th statewide branch and ninth in Northeast Florida.
