Furniture Source created a Facebook page for a store coming soon at The Avenues mall that it called the “biggest furniture showroom in Jacksonville, FL.”
It posted the address of the closed Sears store at 10302 Southside Blvd. One comment on the page said it would open Feb. 11.
Furniture Source says it is a family-owned and operated furniture store.
It has two Jacksonville stores at 3752 Blanding Blvd. in and in St. Johns Town Center at 4643 River City Drive Unit 101 near Target.
While Furniture Source can be found on an online directory for The Avenues mall, it is not shown on the shopping center’s online map, which says “Stay Tuned” for the former Sears space.
The directory says the store’s hours will be 11 a.m.-8 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and noon to 6 p.m. Sunday.
The Avenues is anchored by Dillard’s, JCPenney, Belk and Forever 21.
Sears, which had undergone bankruptcy reorganization, closed in late 2019 after leasing an anchor department store space since the mall opened in 1990.
Sears occupied 125,330 square feet of space on two levels on the north end of the 1.11 million-square-foot enclosed mall, whose main address is 10300 Southside Blvd.
The city issued a permit Jan. 6 for Southside Furniture Group to install a new wireless radio to monitor an existing fire alarm system. The group is based at the Blanding Boulevard property.
