Jeanne Miller, CEO and president of the Jacksonville Civic Council, will end her tenure Dec. 31, the organization announced Dec. 13.

Miller, who started the job in 2013, will serve as interim CEO during the search for her successor, which will begin in January.

She will next serve as founder and principal of the newly established Strategic Relationships & Counsel, a concierge legal and consulting firm working with business, government and nonprofits to create impact and growth, the news release said.

With a background in law, economic development and business, Miller guided the organization’s study of public pension reform, Downtown redevelopment, public education reform, the local option gas tax and opposition to the JEA sale proposal.

“It has been a privilege to serve the Jacksonville Civic Council over last nine and a half years. Working with standout business leaders to address some of Jacksonville’s most pressing issues has been my proudest work. The Jacksonville Civic Council accomplished so much for our city over the past decade and it’s been an honor to help lay a strong foundation for the future,” Miller said in a news release.

In November, the Florida Council on Economic Education inducted Miller into its First Coast Business Hall of Fame, which has recognized business leaders in Jacksonville since 1999.

“Jeanne has done an excellent job of helping the Civic Council grow its impact and influence from its early beginnings into one of Jacksonville’s most respected voices on public policy,” board Chair Eric Mann said in the release.

“Her work to structure the organization and help strategically focus members’ policy efforts enabled JCC to develop from a diverse group with good ideas and enormous potential into an effective and powerful force for progress in our community. We wish her the very best in her future endeavors.”

The Jacksonville Civic Council is a nonpartisan group of business leaders whose goal is to help resolve community issues by studying a problem, proposing solutions, advocating for change and providing resources and support.
