The Home Depot proposes to build a store in World Commerce Center, which would be the retailer’s third St. Johns County location.
St. Johns County received a preapplication for a 136,014-square-foot building on 14.7 acres at 655 World Commerce Center Parkway.
The plans call for a 107,896-square-foot building and 28,118-square-foot garden center. The site is west of Interstate 95 at World Commerce and International Golf parkways near the Gate gas station and convenience store.
The Home Depot would display merchandise along the front apron of the store, which faces international Golf Parkway. A tool rental center is proposed with outdoor storage for rental equipment.
A seasonal sales area of 8,885 square feet is proposed next to the garden center for sales events through the year, include Christmas tree sales.
There would be parking for the Home Depot Load’N Go rental vehicles and rental equipment.
The GreenbergFarrow architecture and engineering firm of Atlanta is the consultant.
Atlanta-based Home Depot has St. Johns County stores in The Pavilion at Durbin Park and at 1750 U.S. 1 S. in St. Augustine.
It is the second home improvement store filed with the county in recent weeks.
Lowe’s Home Centers proposes a store in northern St. Johns County near Beachwalk.
St. Johns County received a preapplication Aug 4 for construction of a 109,981-square-foot building with a 26,602-square-foot garden center along with parking, utilities and storm drainage for the home improvement store.
The 12.66-acre site is at County Road 210 West and Beachwalk Boulevard within the Twin Creeks development.
It would be the second Lowe’s store in St. Johns County. The first is at 1955 U.S. 1 S.
The store also is near the Costco Wholesale that opened Aug. 3 along World Commerce Center Parkway and the Buc-ees that opened in February 2021.
