The Urban Land Institute of North Florida announced Sept. 30 it will recognize GreenPointe Holdings LLC President and CEO Ed Burr as its 2021 Visionary Leader.
“Ed has demonstrated outstanding leadership and best practices in developing thriving residential and mixed-use communities throughout Florida,” said Lori Boyer, CEO of the Downtown Investment Authority and the District Council’s 2019 Visionary Leader, in the news release.
“His innovative vision with every development is to protect and enhance nature’s best assets, creating and reenergizing communities that provide an enduring lifestyle.”
Burr has worked in real estate development since 1987 when he founded LandMar Group LLC, which developed master-planned communities in Florida and Georgia. He also founded Hampton Golf, which manages and develops golf courses and community recreational facilities, in 1998.
Burr started GreenPointe Holdings in 2008. It has 16 communities underway throughout Florida, including several in Northeast Florida.
He founded the Monique Burr Foundation for Children in 1997 in honor of his late wife, who worked to prevent child abuse. The foundation provides abuse prevention education programs to children across the country.
“I’ve watched what this industry has meant to the community over the years, and the leaders that received this award before me have raised the bar in terms of representing an industry that cares not only about our business, but about our community and have helped make our community a better place,” Burr said.
“To be among those previous award recipients and to be recognized by my peers is a true honor and very humbling.”
Burr served on several boards throughout his career, including for JEA, the Northeast Florida Builders Association, JAX Chamber and the Jacksonville Civic Council.
Burr said he was part of a group that founded the DIA and will continue to work to improve the neighborhood.
“I’ll continue to work to do what we can to help lead the effort and support the effort to make (Downtown) a place that all of Northeast Florida can be proud of,” he said.

The award will be presented at 5 p.m. Nov. 2 at the ULI North Florida Awards for Excellence event. It will be held Downtown at Sweet Pete’s.
Other awards will be presented for real estate development projects in several categories including reuse and repurpose, new development, hospitality and entertainment, public sector/nonprofit and organization of influence.
